The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) announced their winners for 2018 on Twitter Sunday, and Roma emerged victorious, winning the awards for Best Film and Best Cinematography. Debra Granik was the “surprise” winner of Best Director, winning for her underrated but great film Leave No Trace.
Correlation between Best Film at LAFCA and Best Picture at the Oscars has been off and on this decade, with shared winners like Spotlight and Moonlight but also many divergences.
