The Art Directors Guild has announced their nominations in film and TV for 2017. Voted on by art directors, graphic artists, illustrators, matte artists, model makers, production designers, scenic artists, set designers and title artists, it is the highest honor for its field in the industry, outside of the Oscars. This year’s ADG Awards will take place on Jan. 27.
The live action film awards are split into three categories: Period, Fantasy and Contemporary. Since there are 15 films nominated, it can be difficult to figure out which five will end up as the Oscar nominees for Best Production Design, but it’s usually a good bet to go with a mix of Period and Fantasy contenders.
Nominated films at this year’s ADG Awards include Beauty and the Beast, Blade Runner 2049, Darkest Hour, Downsizing, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Logan, Murder on the Orient Express, The Post, The Shape of Water, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, War for the Planet of the Apes and Wonder Woman.
