The Critics’ Choice Awards took place Sunday night and Roma was the big winner, taking home prizes for Best Picture, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director for Alfonso Cuarón and Best Cinematography, also for Cuarón. It is the first foreign language film to win Best Picture, a stat that could be repeated at the Oscars.
Christian Bale, Glenn Close, Mahershala Ali, and Regina King all won awards on the film side, extending their winning streak from the Golden Globes. Close did share her award with Lady Gaga, the first tie for an acting category since 2009. Emmy winners who added a Critics’ Choice Award to their collection included Bill Hader, Rachel Brosnahan, Henry Winkler, Alex Borstein, Matthew Rhys, Thandie Newton,
